of course, i am sure most or all of the things i want to do on the MPC One can be done on the Maschine or any other workstation, but at the end of the day, it's all about what inspires you to sit in the chair and get cooking, and i haven't been more inspired by a piece of gear in years. It really can't be overstated how much more simple the touch screen makes the process of getting ideas down.
#HOW TO USE MASCHINE EXPANSION IN MPC SOFTWARE#
even the sound design i thought i'd miss from the Maschine software was all right there, literally at my fingertips. in that regard the workflow isn't THAT different from NI's, but it just feels so much more intuitive to me. sampling is easier than it's ever been for me, which is a huge selling point. connecting my hardware synths was surprisingly straightforward. i already kinda dislike the engineering side of things and consider myself way more of a "producer" on the creative side than a proper engineer, but after watching a couple youtube videos it began making way more sense to me than the Maschine workflow ever did (HUGE shoutout to Ave Mcree, Tubedigga, Matthew Stratton, Marrcello/Fickus Beats, and Malo Beats for such helpful and informative tutorials - who needs the MPC Bible with you guys out there!). within a day of using it, i fell in love with not just the workflow but the look, feel and sound of it.Ī main concern for me was learning a whole new workflow. a couple friends had been encouraging me to try going DAWless for a while, so i decided to get one to sync up all my hardware synths to try making a track without my laptop just as a fun exercise, figuring if i didn't love the workflow, i could just return it, as the place i got it from has a 30 day return policy.

#HOW TO USE MASCHINE EXPANSION IN MPC PLUS#
in fact, if the Plus had batteries or a touch screen or allowed third party plugins or wasn't prohibitively expensive, i might have gone for that sight unseen, but it seems like a pretty big disappointment for their first standalone Maschine.Īlong comes the MPC One with the Retro colourway like a newly single acquaintance popping up in your DMs, and suddenly i was curious about it. sampling always seemed like a bit of a headache, too - maybe that's just the Mk2. no shade to NI at all - huge fan of the libraries and the sound design capabilities the software offers, and had an easy enough time working with it as a VST in Logic too - but there was something about the software that always felt a little glitchy to me, and it didn't seem like the Mk3 or the Plus were significant improvements. i got a used Maschine Mk2 in 2017 and it got me (back) into making beat/sample-based music in a big way, but i never fully got used to the workflow. Maschine user for anyone else curious about making the switch, as it's one of the most exciting and inspiring gear acquisitions i've had in years.
